About Advent 7 old

Sustainable ICT

We support a "shared services" model where the user bears an accurate apportionment of the environmental and operational costs of ICT.  Our solution will give the IT Director an accurate and defendable view of the usage as well as a firmer grasp on the operating efficiencies of an organisation's current systems.

From a Green and Sustainable ICT perspective the metrics can be distilled into two core issues: - power and resources.  By using our solution an organisation will be able to save on hard costs - equipment, software licenses, maintenance, electricity, and rack space and on the labour costs of ICT technical support.  At the strategic level we can work with you to measure key sustainability activities using industry accepted accounting protocols.  We can help you to report ongoing performance to ensure transparency with key stakeholders and compliance with policy directives. By establishing an integrated, consistent source of quality information, you can bind initiatives to a common carbon management and sustainability framework that allows consistency across all lines of business - from the data centre to the water treatment facility.

At the tactical level organisations can follow the Federal Government's direction that its agencies implement the Green ICT Quick Wins program.  Some examples of improving desktop energy efficiency are power management solutions, printer rationalisation and desktop virtualisation.

For example, consider an organisation with an electricity tariff of 15 cents per kilowatt hour.  If it had 600 PCs it would be paying about $75,000 annually just to power its desk top computers.  Using our PC Power Management solutions to program its PCs to control their power use it could make annual savings of about $34,000 and reduce the amount of CO2 released into the environment by about 230,000 kg.  Our solutions are able to achieve a payback period of less than 12 months.  Our tools also have the effect of extending the operational life of PC's by more than a year.

Our solutions can be tailored to reflect the engagement model an organisation wants to adopt e.g. centralised or decentralised, hosted, behavioural and so forth.  The outputs measured and the extent of measurement can also be tailored to a user's requirements.  These solutions can be rolled out very quickly.

Our Solutions

The health and well being of many businesses is closely related to the extent and security of their ICT infrastructure.  A well designed and managed ICT operating environment can quickly resolve a business dispute or commercial or government inquiry by being able to determine when a single piece of data was generated, communicated, altered or deleted, by whom, and under what circumstances anytime over the past seven years.  If a business can't do this easily and quickly the matter can rapidly escalate into a very costly experience.

Advent7 manages these as well as other emerging ICT sustainability, risk and security issues for clients by offering best in class solutions.

Understanding value for money

We understand that our Clients often look beyond the traditional ‘billable-hour’ fee structure, in their procurement of forensic IT services in order to find genuine value-for-money fee proposals.  Advent 7 understands that often the costs charged for these solutions are not necessarily equal to their value to a Client.  This will be especially true for costs derived by totalling up billable hours spent on delivering an outcome for a Client.

We understand that for our Clients, the value of a forensic IT solution is not determined by the time taken to derive that solution but by the way in which the solution helps their business.  As a result we strive to work with our clients to understand how the positive resolution of a matter will help their businesses and, where possible, enter into fee arrangements that aim to recognise the value of the solution and charge in proportion to this, rather than for the mechanics of the process.

Advent 7 is committed to exploring alternative, value-based billing with you and using such structures to develop better work practices and better solutions that will reward us for our efficiency in developing highly valuable solutions for our Clients.
